BARCELONA

Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter rests on the ancient Roman city of Barcino, today full of buildings from the 13th to the 15th century. The Quarter, where you’ll spend most of the tour, is full of interesting shapes, peaceful plazas and winding alleyways, with its medieval Cathedral and the Picasso Museum.
VALENCIA
Valencia, a Mediterranean city now boasting some of the most innovative urban architecture in Europe, largely thanks to local boy Santiago Calatrava. You might start at the cathedral. You can climb the Miguelete, the Cathedral’s unfinished spire. From here, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the city from the Miguelete’s roof. In the Cathedral’s museum, you can see a cup reputed to be the Holy Grail. You can visit the Mercado Central, one of Europe’s largest covered markets. You might also wish to see the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno (IVAM).
